We human beings, we love, Love, LOVE our habits. Even when we dislike the results we’re getting, we keep returning to the comfort of the patterns and behaviors we’ve gotten used to.
This is why, no matter how much you KNOW you “should” change, you don’t.
Oh, you try! You truly intend to
stop <this> or start <that>. You intellectually grasp what is good or bad for you.
But change is hard, you know? Yes, even positive, self-initiated change. It takes so much energy and attention and… ugh, it’s just easier to zone out and do what you’ve always done…
That is why I love this profession I’ve chosen, Coaching. It allows me to show up as a partner to my clients as they figure out what
they really want, which is different from the past. Then I get to support them as they fail and re-try and create different choices in the ways they think, behave, and grow.
In the safety of a coaching relationship, clients can fail without being judged, renegotiate the promises they make to themselves, and gradually build new “muscle strength” to consistently make those new choices.
What new choices do YOU want to
make?
